Karimeen fish is a favorite of Keralites . Karimeen is known as pearl spot in English and is also called green chromide. One portion consists of one fish. Karimeen Pollichathu, which is marinated and steamed or fried in banana leaves and Karimeen Mappas are popular recipes using this fish. Karimeen fish is available widely in Kerala and Tamilnadu especially in the back waters and brackish waters, this fish is greatly relished in its fry and curry forms.
